About Us

Pitkavish-Peterson Motorsports was started in 2000 by myself (Jim Pitkavish Jr.) and my good friend Bob Peterson.  Bob and I go way back.  We have known each other since grade school.  We would go to the races together and always had a dream of owning our own team.  We bought an E-Mod as our first car and ran that same car for our first four years.  We had to endure many growing pains but we had fun racing.  We had Blackie Watt drive for us whenever he could.  Watching Blackie drive our car was a dream come true.  Blackie earned us our first win in our first night of racing.  He won the B Main.  That doesn’t seem like much to most people but with Bob and I just starting out, which was quite an accomplishment.  We also had Tommy Beck and Rob Kosecki drive for us.  It was really enjoyable watching our E-Mod run but I always wanted to drive.  Our last year in the E-Mod I drove the car at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, Latrobe Speedway and one night at Dog Hollow.

A New Car

The 2004 season we bought a Late Model and experienced a whole new batch of growing pains.  We have had engine problems as well as the sponsorship problems most everyone experiences.  We even suffered personal loss with the passing of our good friend Larry Peters.  Losing Larry was too much for me to handle and I decided that I was done.  Everything was frustrating as it was, but this was just too much.  However, my friends all convinced me that Larry would want us to keep racing so we decided to press on.  In Larry’s honor, we switched from Chevy to Ford and now race a Mustang.  It is the orange and black #1 in memory of my grandfather.  Although the 2005 season did not go as we had hoped, we did get to race, learned a little more and hope for better results in 2006.
